HP Z6100 Designjet leaking ink from pipe over inside of plotter from tube system in Birmingham

6th August 2010:

1st Call 4 Service visited customer in Birmingham with leaking ink inside HP Z6100 42″ Designjet printer.  I came into service and fit Maintenance kit 2 on the 2x Z6100 on site as well as a HP 1050c Designjet, I spent the time to investigate the leak from the sealed Tube System.  I cut back the rubber around the pipe run to find that the pipe had fractured just where the pipe starts to bend on the carriage end of Tube System (66cm from carriage housing on a 42″  Z6100 Designjet )  suspect that the channel where tubes run had continuously rubbed on inside edge over the life of the printer or this was the maximum stress point of the bend when carriage in left end of the printer stroke.

Serviced, cleaned leaking ink, fitted new Tube System and Maintenance kit 2.
