HP 5000 60″ designjet printer “message replace all print heads” call in Bristol

13th August 2010:

1st Call 4 Service visited customer is Bristol with HP 5000 60″ Designjet printer with message to replace all printheads! This happened after customer was having problems with just the light cyan printhead first then progressed to all printheads.

Found that printer was failing after 10% calibration due to line sensor dirty from ink over-spray. The lens which slots into the line sensor only protects the sensor but not the two LED’s which is part of the same module, so by just replacing the lens you are not completely solving the problem.

To replace the line sensor you need to take the printhead carriage out then strip the printhead carriage down to replace the line sensor. Within this time also serviced the printer and on this visit didn’t need to replace belt as we had changed belt 2 years ago and it was still in good service condition.
